Using Subjunctive in combination with several categories of emotions.


Presente de subjuntivo con verbos de emoción

Spanish has many possibilities to express a subtle use of emotions and reason. Below are a few examples of emotions in categories (preference, fear, dislike, some others). The phrase consists therefore of 2 parts: The first part contains the emotional result (like, disgust, etc) and the second part contains the reason (bad habit, weather, opportunities, etc)

USE:

[me,te,le,se, nos,les] + [emotional verb] + QUE + [verb in subjunctive]

Ejemplos

Me agrada que hables español con los locales Temo que llueva esta noche Me enoja que la gente tire la basura en la calle. Me da alegría que los niños tengan oportunidad de estudiar.

The subjunctive is used very often for situations as above or advise, desires, suggestions.
